I'd like to be able to use items in combat from the inventor

Greetings!

I've opened my inventory menu many times in combat with the expectation that I'd be able to use my scrolls, wands, and other usable items from that screen. Not so! May we get this fixed?

On a similar note, may we have it so that opening the inventory screen doesn't require Quick Draw or a move action, but manipulating anything on that screen does? That'll solve certain interface expectations.

Thankee!

(I am well aware of how to normally do it and I have beaten the game, but this is a handy accessibility feature for many.)

Thank you Endarire. I can see the appeal of simply opening a character's inventory screen in combat in order to use a magic item or move items. Even in KotC 2, currently there are two combat menu options for that: 'Activate Special' and 'Use Inventory'. The problem is that moving items in the inventory triggers Attacks of Opportunity. So to implement this change, I have to make sure that the game checks for AOOs and closes the inventory screen if necessary, then performs AOOs, then reopens the inventory screen if the character is still alive. Not very easy, but can be done, I guess. Should be possible to activate a magic item directly, too - that might be simpler to implement: just close the inventory screen and cast the spell as if the player had selected the correct menu action. Definitely I'm going to be looking into that improvement for KotC 2. Maybe also for KotC 1.
