Modifying the music

Postby jknight » Wed Aug 19, 2009 5:26 am

Hey, everyone.

I think I'm still showing up as a demo user, but I bought the full version yesterday so thats what the post is applying to.

Firstly, and quickly, I love the game! Takes me back to goldbox days only with a superior interface, no "whats word 1, page 6, line 4?" or wheely decoders and all the new ruleset features I've never got to play with are great fun. If only my Knight in Deathknights had spring attack! :)

I'm fine with the resolution and the font. Its the music that's a bit average...

My question was if it would be possible to change the in game music files, which i see are midis, with, say, mp3s. I plan to replace them all with higher quality music that preserves the same, or better, mood.

How would I go about doing that?

Thanks!

I guess -being just a player myself too-, you'll have to use midi if you want to replace the music, as long as the software is not updated to support mp3, which might be of very low priority I guess. But I bet you can find nice midi music as well.
Honestly, some of the music I find too much being of the kind of Japanese RPG music for my taste, nice but not that epic. Anyway turning it off is always an option, and you can play some other music in the background outside the game.

Exactly, Paul.Illes.

jknight, thank you for your purchase and your supportive comment!

The midi can be replaced with other midis if you like, but not mp3s. Instead just turn off the music, ALT-TAB and play a music CD.

Regarding the full version user/demo user status, I haven't added that to the forum yet. There will be a nice sword picture showing who's bought the game.

[Edit] Legal bit - changing the midi for your personal use is as far as I'll go on accepted modifications. Obviously you can't distribute a modified version and the game's licence still applies.

W00t! :) A small detail, how will you pair the forum users with the user ids of the vendor system?

Of course, I have no intentions to redistribute anything. :)

It's not important. I was just wondering if the games music player could use other files than midis.

It's not bad music, it doesn't annoy me or anything... Just doesn't really take me anywhere.

Thanks for the replies! :)

Hmm I rather like the midi music it's very enjoyable and quite in keeping with the the games overall Artistic design.

Of course I've been told a lot in recent years old game industry dinosaurs like myself just don't understand what newer generation gamers want. I suppose that's why were fading out of existance, leaving gaming, or just plain being shut down. Thank goodness some , like Blue Salamander, are trying to bring back that old gaming goodness of days of yore ;)

Just a heads up here, some people like myself for one, do not use the same email addy for purchases as we do for forums.
Hopefully you'll have another means of determing who purchased the game.

Same here.
What's with people who answer their own questions? I guess they're just stupid.
