Oh my, this is embarassing. I've been really fumbling my Perception checks lately. Need to put more points into Perception on my next level up (been putting too many points into 'Pretend to be working while surfing the net' skill lately). ;)
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

Well, I'll be! I never saw that campsite on the first level of the Orc Stockade. And I was in that darn room!! I just didn't recognize the "campfire" in the room as a campsite. Yay, me...

Even in the starting castle I had trouble seeing the campfire -- it looked just like the four tuorches surrounding it :)

Here's an idea. I've noticed that quite a number of people are missing camp fires. I've done it myself. Why not add a crackling fire sound whenever near one? Or perhaps some sort of restful music? Think Resident Evil. You always knew you were in a safe room when that music sounded.

  • 'Average HP on level up' option - for people who hate rolling a straight series of 1s and 2s for their fighter, but don't want max HP...
Preferably, alternating between rounding up and down every levelup (or, say, rounding up on even levels and down on odd levels).
  • Use of arrow keys to page through party members in inventory screen
  • Pressing M again in Map screen to return to game
  • History window a-la ToEE (sometimes I don't quite catch the floating message, but I wouldn't want to cancel the speed up combat option)
  • Map annotation

Great idea, and should be easy to implement.

It's there, just click on the dice icon in the top-left corner. One of the highlights of the game.

greetings and salutations!

the game is top-notch and really gives the Old-School Ultima feeling.

but, protip/nifty request for sequel: dont use "no exit until either dead or victory" dungeon SO much, it gets abit frustrating after awhile.
and the font could use some...rework. ;)

Thank you for your post and purchase, Luzur! The font is being worked on as we speak. :-)

The game ate my weekend :D

I think most of the little tweaks I'd request so far have already made other lists. Here's a few more:

- It's possible to have many, many piles of loot on the ground. So, when mousing over stacks of objects on the floor, allow the use of a key press to DESTROY an object or the entire stack rather than pick it up. This would work just like SPACE, but destroy instead of take.

- I'd like a little less dragging and dropping when selling to the shops. A hotkey for selling the item the mouse is hovering over would be nice. Perhaps use 'S'.

- What about a key based method for moving items between characters? Suppose I have clicked on an object in the inventory. Could I then press a number key to switch to that character and take the object with me to the new screen? It's not a major issue at all, but I find myself wanting something different for inventory management and can't quite put my finger on it. Too bad there's not enough room on screen to show all inventory objects for all characters on the same page.

Great game! Now I have to find my missing weekend. I wonder where it went...

Hi,

I played the whole weekend and had truely a lot of fun.
We request things and bemoan others ITT, eh?

- why are there no bags of holding, or at least chests (like in Darksun) to increase inventory size?
- why does the merchant in the dungeon beneath the orc Fortress dissappear as soon as you fought alchimist-chick? I want to sell loot...
- where is Mirror Image?
- most of the difficulty comes from the fact that your are forced unprepared into unfair fights, and that your mage is always the primary target for everyone.
example: you emerge from the Orc dungeon and suddenly are surrounded by enemies, you never come out on top with initiative, so your mage has to endure being attacked by all enemies before you can even attempt to act. Where's the challenge in that? To reload until you're lucky enough to survive the first round? That's gambling, no strategy or tactic involved. Another example: kill dwarf king and protect the nice dwarf: everyone makes a beeline for the dwarf and ignores everything else killing him before you can take measures, result: reload, reload, reload until you can cast Displacement on him before the others kill him.
Maybe you should make more spells castable outside combat, Stoneskin for instance. It makes not much sense that you enter a Dragons lair - and you know it - but you just can't prepare/buff. Or maybe don't let anyone attack the Mage no matter what.
